SHIMLA: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil today here chaired a cabinet sub-committee meeting regarding expansion of Nahan Medical College. Members of the sub-committee Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani were also present at the meeting.
Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil stated that the construction of the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, (Dr. YSPGMC) was approved in the year 2018 with an administrative approval of Rs. 260.70 crore. However, the construction work was halted in June, 2022 due to disputes between the construction agency and executive firm with only 7 percent physical progress achieved by then.
The cabinet sub-committee discussed various issues regarding the further steps to be undertaken regarding the streamlining the construction of the Dr. YSPGMC. It asked the concerned officers to present detailed facts about the arbitration and the steps undertaken by the executive agency. Special Secretary Health Ashwani Sharma, Secretary Health Sandeep Kadam, DC Sirmaur Priyanka Verma and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
