SANJAY AGGARWAL
DHARAMSHALA: On the sixth day of the Dharamshala Assembly session, the OBC Sangharsh Samiti again took to the streets in support of its demands. The committee held a strong protest at Zorabar Stadium, alleging that the government was avoiding discussing their 21 key demands. The committee stated that despite a rally of 20,000 people in September, the government had not engaged in dialogue.
Now, it has warned that if OBC demands are not discussed in the winter session, a larger-scale agitation will be launched. On the sixth day of the Assembly session, the OBC Sangharsh Samiti's slogans reverberated throughout the Dharamshala stadium. Protesters stated that they have been agitating for their demands for several months, but the government has yet to make a single move.
The committee claims that on September 20, 20,000 people took to the streets from Kangra to Dharamshala, but despite such a large rally, the government did not even consider it appropriate to engage in dialogue with the OBC community. They say that six days into the session, not a single OBC demand has been discussed in the House.
The committee also stated that OBC MLAs Sukhram Chaudhary, Pawan Kajal, and Chandra Kumar have yet to address OBC issues. Raghuveer Singh Bali, Kewal Pathania, and Sudhir Sharma, elected from OBC-dominated areas, have also been accused of backtracking on their community, but for now, a peaceful protest is the priority. At Zarobar Stadium, we are sending a final message to the government: our 21 demands have been pending for years. They weren't even discussed for a single day in the session. The government is deeply mistaken if it considers this a weakness.
The committee states that these rights are based on the Constitution and Supreme Court orders, but have not been implemented in Himachal. If the government doesn't address them by December 3rd and our demands aren't raised in the session, the movement will grow even larger. A response will be given in the elections.
